Weston Whippets Running Club
Welcome
Weston Whippets is a friendly and welcoming running club based in Weston-super-Mare.
We offer runs almost daily within the Weston area.
About Us
Weston Whippets is a relatively new running club and was founded in 2015 by Shelley.
After the birth of her 4th child, Shelley was desperate to lose weight and support her mental health and so she started a small running group with friends meeting once or twice a week.
In 2017 Shelley was funded by This Girl Can via the local Council to attend LiRF (Leader in Running Fitness) with UK Athletics and from here the club started to grow quickly.
We settled our club in Haywood Village with support from the Village Committee who were keen to build their new home into a friendly and vibrant community and we have been here ever since.
Weston Whippets has funded a large number of LiRF and we also have 4 club CiRF (Coaches in Running Fitness). Our team are always on hand to support new runners as well as our club members and visiting runners too.
What we do
Weston Whippets meets regularly for our Club sessions.
We offer many varied sessions throughout the week and all sessions are available to book on our booking system Run Together.
All of our run sessions are led by our UKA qualified and insured CiRF or LiRF.
All of our coached sessions are delivered by our UKA qualified and insured CiRF.
We offer Road and Trail sessions for all aged 18+ on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
We also offer England Athletics funetics to children aged 4 to 11 years. These sessions are managed by Leanne who is our L2 Club Coach specialising in Throws and she is also CiRF.
On Wednesday and Saturday we offer Coached sessions to our Youth Team supporting them on their running journey with specialised plans. This team is open to those aged 12 to 17 years.
Membership
Weston Whippets offers annual membership to it's members. Our membership fees support the funding of training to allow us to deliver the sessions that we do.
Annual membership for 2024/25 is £20 for individual membership and £18 per adult for 2 or more adult members in each household.
Annual membership for 2024/25 is £15 for members aged 12 to 18 years.
Our membership year runs from 1st April to 31st March each year and is for all aged 12 year and over.
Weston Whippets is affiliated to England Athletics and we invite our members to affiliate to EA in April of each year. The cost for 2024/25 is £19.
Did you know?
Each year, Weston Whippets raise funds for a club chosen local charity.
During the 2024/25 year, we will be supporting The Libby Sweeting Sunshine Fund with Wallace and Gromit's Grand Appeal.
Our members take on an annual challenge every year. These support us to raise funds for our chosen charity, as well as keeping us fit and healthy through the year. All members of the club can take part.
